Is It Just Me??

I am starting to think that all my previous success in fantasy football was a fluke. The league that this blog is after, I am 1-6-1, next to last. Another league I am in, I am 5-3 and in 3rd...and another league, I am in 4th place out of 5 players.

This week I make some more trades, got rid of my tight end that is gone, got rid of a player that was benched. Ben is back from his bye week, and I start him against the Denver Broncos. He gets me 27 points.!!! NICE....Checking the scoreboard..The other guys QB got him 27 as well..a tie...His 3 running backs scored 38 points...mine....19. MY WR's got me 24, his 14. Other positions don't really matter as I am now 1-7-1 with a dis-heartening loss 92-85

Maybe I need to re-read my book report, about how to pick a fantasy football team, because I SUCK this year. None of my players are playing up to their potential, UNTIL, after I get rid of them. I am ready to throw in the towel, well actually, I threw in the towel a while back. but I am still trying to play for pride. I laugh and joke about how crappy I am doing, but, it really sucks!!
My Titans have won more games then I have this year. Ok..time to quit feeling sorry for myself, suck it up, and try a different strategy.

Different Week Same results??

I am 1-5-1 this season.. The play offs are out the window. Just playing for pride now. Losing is new to me in fantasy football, as I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable person who makes good choices and picks. NOT THIS YEAR!!! I pick up Vince Young, because Ben is on a bye week. Vince did alright in his first game playing this year, 15 points. He was my 3rd highest scorer of the week. :o( My highest scorer was ... a defense. Carolina totaled a whopping 20 points. I lost my Tight End for the season as he tore his ACL, another starter was benched by the coach right at kick off time, and another starter was benched because he cant hold onto the ball. Out of 9 positions, I scored a man hood robbing 67 points. My opposition, beat me with his first 3 players. Final score...A Frustrated GM 67...the other guy 129.

And the worse thing of all, was the smack board. He lit into me and called me everything that remotely resembles a loser. And I work with the guy. Hard to show my face in the office after this debacle.

So you think you could run a football team: My Book Report

I have been blessed with the opportunity to read "Fantasy Football For Dummies: by Martin Signore. Martin has worked in film and television ever since he went to NYU film school. He has worked on video games as he is a first generation gamer. He is also a AVID fantasy football coach. He has won numerous public, private and expert league titles, and seems to have found his true calling. This book will teach you all you need to know about creating/managing a fantasy football team. There are 18 chapters, spread out over 290 pages that will teach a newbie and a seasoned veteran the ends and outs, the terminology, and the do's and don'ts of how to research players. Signore explains the difference in the types of drafts that are used to select your team. Is it a autodraft, a online draft (where you meet in a draft room on the internet) or a off line draft.( You meet at somewhere and have a draft party). He also goes into detail about setting your line up with regards to injuries, matchups, bye weeks and performances. Signore walks you through the scoring system that alot of leagues use and how to use these numbers to decide on who to draft with comparisons to thier pervious years. He takes the time to explain in detail the different types of leagues that are available to join, and breaks those down for people with different experience levels. If you are interested in running your own league, Signore gives advice and examples of what you will need to do to run your league effetively and still have fun as well.

This book will also give you a great knowledge base of how to research your players, from different websites to magazines to TV shows that are designed and dedicated to the Fantasy Football player. I have been playing fantasy football for well over 10 years now, and he has given me more things to add to my arsenal for the coming years, to better improve my record and increase my chances of winning the over all league title. He goes into detail about draft strategies with regards to taking 2 high caliber RB's ( called the stud-RB theory) and shows you how this can mean the difference between winning and losing your season. This books breaks down trades and helps you know the difference between a trade that benefits just you or someone trying to put one over on the new guy. He breaks down taking elite wide receivers over average running backs.
He explains how to draft in auction drafts, where you are given a set amount of "money" and how to spend it, so you will have a good team and not spend all your money on the top 2 or 3 guys and have no money left to have a competitive team. Also, how to draft with your head and not your heart, do not spend your picks on all your favorite teams players. You have to consider bye weeks( when your team does not play), and injuries.
Overalll, I would HIGHLY recomend this book for anyone who is interested in joing the ranks of fantasy football players, that way the next time somesays to you, "Oh crap, I need Manning to score 35 points or I'm gonna lose", you will know exactly what he is talking about.

Week 7 Can I win 2 in a row

Still in the clouds with my first victory of the season last week, I prepare to take on my boss in this week 7 match up. He has talked smack all week about how my Titans suck, and how he is going to beat me like a goverment mule.

He has Peyton manning going against Rawhamberger and he gets off to a 13 point lead as Manning gets 29 points against the hapless Rams, Rawhamberger gets 16 against the Vikings.

Slaton gets a few points back for me as he scores 119 against the fruity niners and Jacobs scores him 14 going against the Cardinals.

2 of my trades fail me this week as Cadilac Williams and josh Cribbs score a combined 10 against his power house tandum of Ryan Grant and Jonathan Stewart. 24 - 10..OUCH..behind by more..not looking good so far for me.
My wide recievers get me 30 as Welker and Collie score 21 and 9...I am back in this....UNTIL I see Colston and Johnny Knox (Who the hell is this guy) score 13 and 19 respectively.

I am now down 99 - 75 with only a TE a defense and a hapless kicker left.....Why did I get involved in this stupid sport.

Owen Daniels is my tight end and he pulls off a MONSTER week for Tight Ends with 20 points compared to 0 points for his tight end. Now I have risen from the dead and only trail by 4 points..Heart beating alot faster now, hands are getting sweaty clicking from game to game to check on potential points.

My Defense is the Panthers, going against his defense of the Dolphins...Thank God the Saints came back and scored a ton of points against the Dolphins...I win the defensive battle with a high powered contest of 6 to 4

I am down by 3 points with kickers left to go...Arizona's Neil Rackers against the Falcons Jason Elam...Elam kicks 3 extra points, so does Rackers.....Rackers also kicks a field goal and I win 6 to 3...... A TIE..... We finish this long bruising battle in a tie.

Well, it's not a loss and it's not a win..but It gives me ammo to fire back at my boss, since he was in a tie for 1st place and now he has a tie on his record.

Needless to say, he was not talking so much on Tuesday morning, and I could strut around ( if only around the office) knowing that a tie ( when you are 1-5) is much more of a confidence booster, then getting destroyed again. let's see what week 8 brings!!!!

Roethlisberger gets me 33...Slaton got me 19..Ok not bad...Now the trades..Cadilac Willams...13....Josh Cribbs got me 24...walker got me 12..Holy Crap...I laid a stomping on him and WON MY FIRST GAME 159-85. Take that sucker...I am no longer like my Titans..I have won a game this season.

Week 5

A little late with these posts, as I just can not take the abuse this season. My REAL Titans are playing like they are a Div 2 college team... Unlv could probably beat us. On to the fantasy league....More bad numbers from Slaton, Brown, Witten, Britt..and Scobee this week....I get demolished 125 - 90...0-5 and the plays offs are gone...There is always next year..i guess...I need a Pepcid AC

Week 4 ..Brings more disapointment

Week 4 is upon us and I am eagerly awaiting Sundays games. can I come up with my first win of the season or will my Titans curse continue... Good line up going this week.. Palmer at QB. Forte, Slaton..Aaron Brown from Detroit...I think I can overcome my opposition. Palmer gets me 24..forte gets me 19..slaton gets me 19..brown gets me 15..YES..YES.. I smell victory....Wes Welker..Come on Baby..WTF??? 4 points..Braylon Edwards gets ZERO!!!!! Owen daniels gets 4 Packers D gets me .....wait for it...here it comes...4 points....Josh Scobee a KICKER gets 14..more than 2 wr's a TE and my D PUT TOGETHER!!!!! I find another way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.....I lose 118 to 103.. 0-4
